Ghana Medical Relief, a nonprofit organization made up of doctors and volunteers based in the United States and Ghana, embarked on a health awareness exercise in Anomabo, in the central region.
The organization provided, during the four-day exercise, pediatric, medical, dental, gynecological and obstetric urology services, among others.
The organization, which annually provides free medical services to communities, has treated up to 2,200 people in three days.
During a brief media intervention on the sidelines of the exercise, Dr. Samuel Kwapong Owusu, doctor and president of Ghana Medical Relief, stated that the number of fibroids cases and the size recorded during screening women during the exercise were very worrying.
He urged community members, especially women, to make a regular medical check-up so that they can identify and treat health problems at an early stage.
Last year, the team was in Asiakwa in the Eastern region and provided similar services to the natives of the region.
Ghana Medical Relief is a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides health care to various villages in Ghana.
The organization works with hospitals, churches and agencies in the United States for medical supplies and equipment donated to hospitals and clinics in Ghana.
To date, the organization has donated hospital beds, ultrasound devices, examination tables, cardiac defibrillators, operating room equipment and many medical supplies / drugs to several hospitals and clinics in Ghana.
The goal of the organization is to provide free health care missions every year in Ghana.
