Make no mistake, fans of Bruce Springsteen will dance in the darkness of the cinema after seeing Gurinder Chadha 's wonderful new movie, Blinded by the Light.

Before his release, JOE's Paul Moore met the talented director to talk about The Boss, Springtseen's lyrics, the "Feel Good" movie of the year and why Blinded by the Light is so strangely prescient in the climate of Brexit.

If you like Springsteen, Blinded by the Light is an essential vision.

Inspired by a true story based on the acclaimed memoirs of Sarfraz Manzoor, "Greetings from Bury Park: Race, Religion and Rock'n'roll, Blinded by the Light" tells the story of Javed (Viveik Kalra ), a British teenager of Pakistani origin who grew up in the city of Luton, England, in 1987.

In the midst of the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he wrote poetry as a way to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the rigidity of his traditional father. But when a comrade introduces him to Bruce Springsteen's music, Javed sees parallels with his working-clbad life in powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers a cathartic outlet for his own repressed dreams, he also begins to find the courage to express his own voice.
