A specialized team from the police headquarters opened investigations to find the murderers of the police officer shot dead by suspected armed thieves in the northern region.
Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin was shot dead Tuesday night at a checkpoint of the municipality of Sagnarigu. She was one of three officers stationed at a checkpoint near a service station.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed robbers wearing military camouflage, wearing a mask and desert boots, escaped with two weapons.
Interim Inspector General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh, who visited Tamale on Thursday, badured the deceased's family that the police would spare no effort to locate his killers.
"I went to the crime scene and no matter what will lead us, we will follow," he said.
The husband of the deceased officer is still not convinced by the murder of his wife.
He told Joy News' Martina Bugri that the untimely death was harsh, but harder for the three young children who were left without mothers.
The Police Administration has announced a reward of 10,000 GH ¢ for anyone providing credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
A family liaison officer was also appointed to interview the deceased officer's family and provide family and survivor counseling services.
