Microsoft has made a significant change in the way it will start promoting Mixer, the company's streaming game service. The company attacks Twitch's stars with the hope of giving life to its own platform.
Announced today, Richard 'Tyler' Blevins, also known as Ninja, will pbad exclusively to Mixer. If you do not know his work well and he has no problem, it's Twitch's biggest Fortnite streamer and he's getting rid of this Mixer service now.
Clearly, Microsoft pays for it and it's not a new success for Mixer. After Microsoft has removed some of its original programming staff at the end of June, it seems like they are converting this money into sponsors for their gambling service.
There are, however, great unknowns, first if it is "forever". Blevins says that he is moving away from Twitch, but it would be more logical for his contract to have a duration that dictates to him when and where he could broadcast it. Which means that this contract will eventually expire and that it could come back to Twitch at some point, but we do not know how long the blocking period will last, but that seems unlikely because it is undefined.
It will be interesting to see how this impacts Blevins' career in streaming content, as it is quite obvious that it has had a resounding success on Twitch. But that does not mean that all his followers will move to Mixer and if they do not, what are the consequences in the long run?
That being said, I guess he probably considered what might happen when switching to Mixer and it is more than likely that Microsoft is also paying a large amount for this transfer. It will also be interesting to see if Microsoft will attack other Twitch personalities like Shroud or Dr. Disprect, but for now, the company is spending a lot of money trying to put Mixer in the limelight.
