The results of a review of exercise and weight, called Midwest Exercise Trial 2, showed that people who exercise before noon seem to lose more weight than those who perform exactly the same. same session later in the day.
Over the course of the study, about 100 overweight young men and women trained five times a week in a physiology lab and participated in a jog or other exercise to make them sweat. Each person would work until they burned about 600 calories, reports the New York Times. After 10 months, almost all the people participating in the trial had lost weight, but these numbers varied enormously.
A closer look at the participants' weight loss showed that their exercise programs made a difference in the amount of weight lost. The study participants worked between 7 am and 7 pm and, on average, those who worked before noon had lost more weight than the other players who went to the gym after 3 pm.
But the researchers also found other differences between people who exercise in the morning and those who do it later in the day. Beginners tend to be more active all day and eat slightly less than their counterparts (although the study indicates that the difference between foods was only about 100 calories).
And while the link between the activity schedule and weight loss is only fortuitous, Erik Willis, a data badyst at the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the University of Carolina North to Chapel Hill, believes that there may be a statistical link between two.
