Real Madrid does not need to sign Paul Pogba nor Christian Eriksen, according to former Brazilian striker Rivaldo.
Los Blancos had a bad campaign in 2018/19, finishing third in the league and winning only the club world cup.
Will Pogba and Eriksen become Galacticos? Five things to know …
- Real Madrid have made several big names this summer, including Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.
- Los Blancos have also been badociated with initiatives by Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen.
- Pogba and Eriksen reportedly attempted to distance themselves from Manchester United and Tottenham respectively.
- But Rivaldo thinks the Real Madrid midfielder would be fine without the pair.
- Real has already lost three of its five pre-season friendlies.
As a result, the club of the Spanish capital has experienced a summer period of change, bringing a number of prestigious recruits. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo have all opted for Real Madrid. Pogba and Eriksen were encouraged to join them.
However, Rivaldo, winner of the 2002 World Cup, who played 236 times for the rival of Madrid, believes that Zinedine Zidane does not need reinforcements in the midfield.
"The press says Madrid needs to strengthen their midfield, with Cristian Eriksen and Paul Pogba among the supposed targets. Both are excellent players and would suit the Bernabeu well, "he said in a column for Betfair.
"Despite their bad pre-season, I'm not sure that Madrid needs reinforcements.
"Critics of the Madrid midfield should not forget that Casemiro is back in the team now after an injury. So they play without their defensive midfielder and one of the most important players.
"Madrid will improve with the return of Casemiro in the team, although his absence does not explain their terrible pre-season."

Madrid should not panic after a bad pre-season
Despite all their new recruits, Real Madrid has not experienced the best pre-season. Los Blancos started their preparations for the 2019/20 season with a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, followed by a shootout win over Arsenal after a 2-2 draw.
The lowest point for Los Blancos was a 7-3 humiliation against Atletico Madrid, before losing 1-0 to Tottenham. Madrid then rebounded to beat Fenerbahce 5-3, but defense problems overshadowed the victory.
However, Rivaldo believes that there is nothing to worry about Real Madrid.
He added: "Of course, the pre-season of Real Madrid is not good for them, because it is always better to start by winning matches and gaining confidence.
"This is not a good start for a club that has made quality selections this summer and has found Zinedine Zidane leading since before the end of last season.
"That being said, we are in pre-season and we have time to make improvements. So it's a bit early to be scared. Naturally, it would have been better for Madrid to start with a series of victories.
"They have to change things quickly to avoid getting bad energy into their own season. After a mediocre campaign last year, Madrid fans are expecting their club to be much stronger this year. "
