The French official is no stranger to the big stage after refereeing the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup in July and having already led the semifinals of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017.

Frappart, 35, will lead a female-dominated squad in the match on Aug. 14. He will be joined by badistants Manuela Nicolosi and Michelle O. Neal. The fourth official will be the Turkish Cuneyt Cakir.

"Stephanie has proven over the years that she was one of the best female referees, not only in Europe, but around the world," said the referee's director. UEFA, Roberto Rosetti.

"She has the ability to officiate on the biggest stage, as she has proven in the Women's World Cup final this year."

Stéphanie Frappart became the first woman to referee a match in Ligue 1.

Frappart has already marked the history of her native country by becoming the first woman to officiate a Ligue 1 men's match between SC Amiens and RC Strasbourg last April.

The 35-year-old, however, is not the first woman to take charge of a UEFA men's match. Switzerland's Nicole Petignat refereed three matches of the UEFA Cup qualifying round between 2004 and 2009.

"As an organization, we attach the utmost importance to the development of women's football in all areas," said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

"I hope that the skills and dedication that Stephanie has shown throughout her career to reach this level will inspire millions of girls and women from all over Europe and show them that there there should be no barrier to achieving one's dream. "

The final of the Super Cup is a major annual event of UEFA which brings together the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League. This year, the final will be played in Istanbul, Turkey.
