The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, accused the government of being deliberately engaged in activities to bypbad Ghanaians as part of the country's takeover. National power supply by Power Distribution Services (PDS) Limited of the Ghana Electricity Corporation (ECG).

The government of Ghana recently suspended its concession agreement with PDS.

The decision was communicated by a press release from the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

According to the statement, the pending agreement was made necessary by "the detection of fundamental and substantial violations of the obligation of PDS to provide payment guarantees (on-demand guarantees) for the transaction that were discovered during subsequent checks ".

The government stated that a full investigation had been initiated on the agreement and that steps had been taken to ensure that "the distribution, billing and payment services remain uninterrupted".

However, in a message posted on his Facebook wall, Mr. Gyamfi said, "This whole PDS scandal is a product of President Akufo-Addo's nepotism program in state capture. It's an agenda to create, loot and share that went wrong. The biggest scam ever perpetrated against the Ghanaian people.

He said that the government "knew all this while the guarantee was false but remained silent because they were sponsors and architects of the whole market".

He pointed out that Ghanaian partners (who were hastily incorporated after Meralco won the call for bids and who had no capacity or track record in the energy sector ) only paraded for their powerful political elite.
