The Vanguard Operation Working Group has arrested 37 alleged illegal juveniles in the West and Ashanti regions.
Thirty alleged illegal Ghanaian minors were arrested in the western region of Mpohor-Adum Banso in Mpohor district on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.
The suspects are currently in police custody in Mpohor. Two excavators seized on the site were also handed over to IMCIM.
On Thursday, seven other alleged illegal juveniles were apprehended in the Berkwai area. Two Chinese and one Ivorian were handed over to the Interministerial Committee on Illegal Mining. The other four confirmed suspects as locals were handed over to the Obuasi police for further investigation.
