WASHINGTON,
Aug. 1 (Xinhua / GNA) – Ten other Democratic presidential candidates clashed
health care Wednesday, with lively exchanges on other topics during the
second night of the party's primary debates in Detroit,
Michigan.
Senator Kamala
Harris, responding to critics of former Vice President Joe Biden
health care plan recently released, said Biden probably did not read it.
She published a
"Medicare for All" Monday after months of inconsistency
the question, stating that it does not support the total elimination of
private insurance plans, one step back from its previous position similar to that of
Senator Bernie Sanders.
Biden
campaign later responded that Harris was refusing "to be direct with the
American middle clbad "on the heavy tax burden engendered by his plan.
Harris
explained at the debate stage that his plan meets American's needs,
Whereas private insurance companies have raised the prices of
price too long. "
Biden doubled
low, telling potential voters to be wary of a phased implementation period of 10 years
proposed by Harris's plan.
"At any time
somebody tells you – you're going to get something good in ten years, you
should wonder why it takes ten years. "
The two scans
the pioneers shared the stage with seven other contenders, including the senator
Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, who challenged both saying that they were
"at the risk of losing the forest for the trees", when the Republicans
nibble the Affordable Care Act promulgated by former President Barack
Obama.
Wednesday
The night debate lasted more than two and a half hours during which candidates
struggled around topics such as education, law enforcement, race, climate
change, trade, national security, the investigation of Russia and their
individual electability.
Many condemned
immigration policy of the current administration. "There is not a single
nobody on this stage if was president would ever separate a child from their
parents on the border, "said Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado.
"C & # 39;
what his administration did on behalf of the American people they
makes our border a symbol of hostility ".
Senator Cory
Booker of New Jersey also weighed on the treatment of the administration by
undocumented immigrants, citing his visit to detention centers.
"Seeing
children who sleep on the sidewalk, people in cages, nursing mothers,
small children, it is not necessary, "he said.
President
Donald Trump, who recently launched his re-election campaign for 2020, tweeted
after Wednesday's debate that "the people on the stage tonight, and
finally, those who are going to make America great, or keep America
Awesome!"
Ten others
Democratic candidates including Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren of
Mbadachusetts, faced off a day earlier.
According to one
Quinnipiac University poll released prior to Detroit debates, Biden was
favored by 34% of Democrats and independent voters across the country, representing
three other precursors, namely Warren, Harris and Sanders, by a large
margin.
The following
debates are due to open in September in Houston, Texas. As a democrat
National Committee raises the bar to qualify, a less crowded alignment is
expected.
