We sent journalist Grace Walton special treatment because the latest craze for beauty came to Worcester.
Journey Hair and Beauty Boutique, in Copenhagen Street, has launched a new treatment – HydraFacial.
It was an hour of paradise – it was simply happiness. I felt like I was in a mini spa and it was a treat after a day of hard work.
It was relaxing, tranquil and the absolutely perfect way to relax.
HydraFacial Skin Health for Life was launched three weeks ago in the city. The treatment is a six-step facial and involves a thorough process.
The first step detoxifies the skin, which is performed by a tiny valet maneuvered on the face where lymphatic drainage occurs. This improves the circulation of the lymphatic system and helps eliminate toxins.
I must say that it was very peaceful – I had a kip during this time.

The next step was deep cleansing and exfoliation, which revealed a new layer of skin. A vacuum-based abrasion tip gently smoothes dead skin cells while delivering the serum directly to the new fresh skin underneath.
Then comes the acidic peel, where glycolic and salicylic solutions are introduced deep into the skin to produce the results of an aggressive peel.
Then, the debris is extracted from the pores. It was my favorite part. It was a bit like a mini-vacuum that gently sucked my face to clean my pores.
Afterwards, she showed me the "gunk" that had been extracted from this vacuum cleaner as a tool. It was strangely satisfying to see all the garbage on my skin.
The next step was focused on hydration. This step quenches the skin and retains it by moisturizing, with a blend of powerful antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides to support collagen.
The last step is rejuvenation, where the treatment ends with a red and infrared LED light to reduce redness and further stimulate collagen, which promotes the natural production of vitamin D.
When I got home after my treatment, my skin was radiant and shone brightly. My skin had never felt so clean and invigorated.
The treatment caused neither pain nor redness, which surprised me to find its depth.
The most notable differences for me after the HydraFacial treatment are the sensations of my skin.
Even days later, it stays hydrated, smooth and very clean. My pores are less visible and I have the confidence to display my skin and have even avoided putting on makeup.
Whether you have acne-prone skin, dry, dehydrated skin or are trying to fight the signs of aging, this facial is for you.
Rosanna McCaffery, a beautician with 10 years of industry experience, said, "We are proud to unveil Worcester's first HydraFacial treatment.
"We all already had a HydraFacial before introducing treatment into Journey. "There is no place where this happens in Worcester, so we wanted to go before everyone else.
"We want to be a place where people can visit locally rather than traveling further for facials."
