GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Florida authorities have declared the state of emergency to help cope with an increase in the number of cases of hepatitis A.

Marion County has been named one of the most affected counties. The urgency is to alert the public about the severity of hepatitis A in Florida since the beginning of the year.

In comparison, there were 548 cases last year.
