Raye recently thanked the fans on Twitter to patiently wait for his new music. While writing for some of the greatest artists on the planet, like Beyoncé, has obvious benefits, the multi-talented singer-songwriter was very excited about composing songs as as an artist in its own right. Getting balance is not always easy.

"It's difficult in a lot of ways," said the 21-year-old. If you spend more time on something, you get a better product. I have such a pbadion for writing – not just for myself, I love helping people create a story, create a carving of songs. I'm so pbadionate about it and I'm getting good. I bloom in it.

"It's just difficult when I write a song for an artist and I put a lot of my style there. Sometimes an artist wants me to come to America and help finish her record; I really want it, but then I have to take into account that I go on tour with Khalid in September and that I have songs to publish! It's a difficult balance. After this moment of Beyoncé, I will take a break and write only with people. J & # 39; love. "

Love Me Again is a sound very different from you. Do you feel like you have found your rhythm with this song?

"Yeah that's really [different]. I have experienced this sound of the 80s which I fell in love with. This snare drum and 4/4 [time signature] – the feeling of that. I think it can get really moving with that but you still keep it as something that people can move, you know?

"This song is so special to me, it feels good, it's what's most relevant to what I'm experiencing right now, I think it's really important as a song." 39, artist to be honest, the music for me, it is like showing your soul, I feel extraordinary to bring it out. [which is] a beautiful thing. It's like a journal written so that everyone can listen to it. I think it's a very good song, I really believe it. "

You scored your first hit in the Top 40 in 2016 but you have not released any album yet. Is Love Me Again part of a larger project?

"It's definitely the beginning of a new chapter, I have some songs I'm working on and want to finish, I feel like I'm flowing in. How it's going to be packed for the moment, but there's definitely a lot of music coming up this year. "

Many artists are coming out of standalone singles right now, your piece with David Guetta being an example of what he sees. Are you a fan of this approach?

"I see it like that. The music is so fast now.People do not really take the time to rummage through an album like before. You had the habit of going to the store, buying a physical copy and put it in your CD player and listen to it again and again and learn all the words.I feel that it is something that we miss today.

"The music is not as well received as it should be, I've earned the right to release an album and I really want to have a project where people will listen to each song, I'll release those songs, and I'll I hope this will lead to an album. "

Speaking of albums, you wrote Bigger on Beyoncé's new album, The Lion King: The Gift. How does such an opportunity come about?

"It's a crazy way to do that, I was in Ghana at the time with a big Afrobeats producer called Guilty, we had a lot of Ghanaian artists from the west coast doing songs for a side project. Some songs ended up joining Beyonce's team and they reached out: I was invited to participate in this important writing process, and then we entered the studio.

"I wrote a lot of songs – I put a change in. But she fell in love with Bigger. It's an artist who can really say something with this song, we were so excited. It's a beautiful message and I think everyone can appreciate feeling insignificant at some point in their lives. It was an amazing experience. "

So how many songs have you actually projected on Beyoncé, and could they be used for your own project?

"Maybe 25? They were not all written during these studio sessions and some were written for the purpose of my artist project.I think they're all fluids, so I would not be surprised to be able to release some of these songs. "

We are told that you are also in studio with Normani …

"She's an incredible friend, she's like my sister, we talk all the time and she's rooted for me too, I wrote amazing records with her, she wants me to help her finish things. and to edit some of them She takes her time, I think it's important that the first album succeed. This is not a thing to rush in. Incredible songs are constantly being created. "

You focus on yourself in the coming months, but with whom do you still have to work?

"I would like LOVE work with Alicia Keys. I will find a way to do it. [laughs] I'm just going to ask my publisher to reach out and tell him, "Tell him I wrote a Beyoncé song!"
