August 5th marks the launch of Celtic Whiskey's latest Irish whiskey brand "The Dingle Celt". This follows the success of their award-winning bottles Celtic Cask Independent, one of Ireland's most award-winning whiskey brands.
The Dingle Celt is an extremely rare bottle drawn from a single barrel of the distillery Dingle, distilled three times and fully aged in a barrel of 50 liters of chestnut Caratelli having already ripened the dessert wine Vin Santo de Altesino, l & ## 39, one of the best vineyards in Tuscany.
The single malt was distilled at the Dingle distillery on May 23, 2015 and bottled by Celtic Whiskey at the barrel press on December 6, 2018, this whiskey is limited to 18 bottles.
Chestnut wood is more porous than oak and undergoes much more evaporation, hence the small size of the bottling. Commenting on the high degree of evaporation, what the industry calls "the angels share," Ally Alpine, general manager of Celtic Whiskey, observed that, "there must have been very happy angels around this barrel."
Celtic whiskey is a well-known Irish whiskey bottler who works closely with Irish whiskey distilleries to select only the best Irish whiskeys for further aging. Dealing directly with some of the best wineries in the world, only the highest quality oak barrels are selected. The whiskeys are then carefully married in these casks of wine, giving truly unique expressions of Irish whiskey.
Customers will have the opportunity to purchase one of the fifteen bottles online at Whiskey Celtic Auction.com from Monday, August 5 to Monday, August 19 at 8 pm – the remaining three bottles will be available by measure at the Celtic Whiskey Bar & amp; Cellar in Killarney, Co, Kerry. Celtic Whiskey Auction is an online auction platform launched last November for the purchase and sale of collectible bottling of Irish whiskey, but also world whiskeys, spirits, wines and accessories. At least $ 100 / $ 110 from each bottle will be donated to the Kerry Parent and Friends Association (KPFA), which supports families of people with learning disabilities by providing residential and day services, as well as support services. relief and home support.
Ally Alpine, founder of the Celtic Whiskey brand, said:
We wanted to capitalize on our previous success with Celtic Cask bottlenecks and bring out an ultra-exclusive whiskey from one of the newest distilleries. We chose a barrel from the Dingle Distillery, which greatly contributed to the revival of Irish Whiskey (which launched its first whiskey in November 2016). Despite its youth, the Dingle Celt is an exceptional bottling that offers great potential for future bottling of Dingle whiskey. .
Irish whiskey is the fastest growing spirits category in the world. Exports increased by 13% from EUR 578.78 / 636 million in 2017 to EUR 654 million / 720 million USD last year. In 2018, wholesale sales of Irish whiskey in the United States exceeded $ 1 billion for the first time.
Tasting notes
The color is a rich amber. On the nose, there is a pronounced aroma of golden raisins as well as hints of dried apricot and peach and a hint of wood in the background. In the mouth, the whiskey is very soft and viscous. It is sweet with aromas of dried fruits, including fig and golden grapes, as well as a slight, very distinctive and bitter note. Chestnut wood casks can often impart bitter tannins to liquids that are immersed in them. The finish is of medium length, sweet, with a persistent bitter note. It's an exceptional whiskey. It would have benefited from a few years of additional aging, but it is certainly very drinkable now.
