Leicester is about to replace Maguire with Brighton star Lewis Dunk, while Potter replaces Dunk by Webster.

Meanwhile, Bristol City hopes to replace Webster by Ciaran Clark, a Newcastle pariah.

Potter revealed: "Adam is a player whose club has been aware for some time and an opponent we met against us last season in Swansea City.

"He is a quality defender, comfortable on the ball, who matches the type of player we want to bring to the club, and he really wanted to join us.

"He is still relatively young, but has a good experience of the number of games he has played.

"He's predominant in the middle, he can also play right back and he'll bring extra competition alongside our existing defensive options."

Webster began his career on the South Coast with Portsmouth in 2012, before settling in Ipswich four years later.

Two seasons at the Tractor Boys followed before joining the Robins in 2018, where he shone in 44 appearances at the Championship last season.

Webster – an international under 19 with six British capitals – will now continue to advance in the Premier League after securing a big fortune.

Harry Maguire at Man United is "an incredible deal," says Brendan Rodgers, director of Leicester, while he confirms a £ 85 million contract
