Donald Trump News: US President Mocks Home Burglary at Elijah Cummings Home | World | New

Cummings' home in Baltimore was robbed last week, just hours before Trump told Fox News that the congressman was a "brutal tyrant". The US president also added that Baltimore District, led by Mr. Cummings, was "a disgusting disorder, infested with rats and rodents." After Baltimore police published an incident report on the burglary, Trump tweeted, "Very bad news!" Elijah Cummings' home in Baltimore was stolen.

The tweet has been criticized by many supporters, including those of Trump.

Former UN ambbadador Nikki Haley – who is an ally of Trump – responded to Trump's tweet by writing "it's so useless" with an emoji in front of her eyes.

However, White House advisor Kellyanne Conway fought back against Haley saying her message was "useless".

Other Republicans also criticized Trump's response, including Illinois MP Adam Kinzinger, who said the tweet was "way below the office you're in."

Mr. Kinzinger tweeted, "It's childish, and yet it's getting really old."

Mr. Cummings did not respond to the tweet but confirmed in a statement that the burglar had not had access to his home.

He said: "My security system has informed me of the intrusion and I have scared the intruder by screaming before the person can enter the residential part of the house.

"I thank the Baltimore Police Department for their response and request that all requests for additional information be addressed to them."

Trump claimed that his tweet was not meant to make him look like a "wise guy."

On the White House lawn, he said: "The tweet itself was actually a repetition of what I heard on the news.

"I know that his house was broken into and I found it a shame. It was really not a wise man.

When asked about Ms. Haley's tweet, he replied, "Well, it does not matter, I do not mind."

Haley stepped down as the first ambbadador of the president last October and defended Trump's remarks about Baltimore earlier this week.
