QPR had a good start to the season with a 2-1 win at Stoke.

The Londoners took control of the game when beginner Jordan Hugill gave them an eight-minute lead after a scream from Jack Butland.

The quick goal allowed them to sit down and absorb the pressure before hitting the Potters at the break.

And the Rangers came full circle at the start of the second half after a brilliant solo race and an Ebere Eze final.

Sam Clucas gave hope to City late in the game when he stayed home with 12 minutes to go, but they were unable to upgrade despite late pressure.

It could have been very different for Stoke if Sam Vokes had beaten Joe Lumley in the race for a loose back pbad after four minutes.

But it was the visitors who made the most of the defense when Butland failed to guide the ball towards the goal.

This allowed Bright Osayi-Samuel to spot Hugill from the signature for a simple tap-in.

After 17 minutes, Clucas got close to Stoke after scoring Nick Powell's free kick. Joe Allen opened the scoring two minutes later.

Josh Scowen missed a brilliant opportunity to double the Rangers' lead with a free-range header in the 27th minute.

But Eze scored the second goal of the QPR match in the 53rd minute with a superb solo goal. He crossed an empty midfield before returning his man just inside the box and sneaking into the corner with confidence.

Allen was squeezed to the wheel for Stoke before Nathan Jones quickly replaced Tyrese Campbell, Lee Gregory and Tom Ince, while the Potters looked for a way back in the game.

And they won a lifeline when Clucas crushed the house after jumping on a loose ball.

Tommy Smith opened fire at the back of the cage before QPR could withstand a scrum – and then screamed for a penalty after the ball hit the hand of a defender protecting his face from a shot .

Danny Batth was heading terribly towards the goal of stopping after Lumley failed to claim a center.
