As of September 10, 2019, Virgin Atlantic will deploy its first Airbus A350 on flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and New York (JFK).

According to a press release issued by Virgin Atlantic in April, the full-service airline considers the London-New York flight as a flagship link.

It is in this spirit that Virgin Atlantic intends to use more of their new A350s on the transatlantic route to New York, rather than flying to different destinations.

British Airways will serve multiple destinations with the A350

British Airways chose a separate lane, deciding to place its new A350s on different routes rather than sticking to one.

After being delivered from Toulouse last week, British Airways will put the aircraft on flights London-Madrid (MAD) during August to familiarize them with the crew.

As of September 1, the plane was to be placed on the London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) route, but it was replaced by London Heathrow-Dubai (DXB).

A350 Toronto flights will begin one month later starting October 1st.

The next two British Airways A350 routes will be London-Tel Aviv (TLV) from 1 December, then London-Bangalore (BLR) one month later.

In total, British Airways has ordered 18 A350s from Airbus, four of which are expected to be delivered this year.

The A350 upper clbad cabin has been redesigned with the help of some of Virgin Atlantic's frequent and special travelers;

  • Each seat has a deployable privacy screen and faces the window.
  • Configured in a 1-2-1 configuration, each suite of the upper clbad has a seat that can be turned into a flat bed.
  • 5-inch entertainment screen that can be connected to pbadengers' personal electronics.
  • In harmony with the other cabins of the upper clbad Virgin Atlantic, each seat will have direct access to the aisles.

Mark Anderson, Executive Vice President of the Airbus A350, said:

"The introduction of our A350 represents a real evolution of our customer experience.

We think that flying should be exciting, whether it's your first or your 100th flight with us, and that's why we've expanded our offering to provide our customers with something truly unique.

The A350 is an important part of our fleet transformation strategy by 2022; We will have our youngest, cleanest, and greenest fleet in the sky as the aircraft transforms our customers' experience, reduces our environmental impact, and improves the economy of our route. "
