A high court chaired by Judge George Buadi has granted an interim injunction which prevents the Election Commission (EC) from publishing John Peter Amewu as MP for Hohoe in the Volta region.

The injunction was granted today, December 23, 2020, after an ex parte application was brought to court by counsel for some residents who claimed to be from the Hohoe constituency.

The applicants’ lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata, who argued in favor of the ex parte motion, said the injunction was necessary because his clients from towns in Hohoe constituency were barred from voting in the legislative elections which saw John Peter Amewu elected MP for Hohoe. .

They brought an action to uphold their basic human rights, in particular their right to vote, argued the lawyer.
