An interim injunction to prevent the Election Commission (EC) from publishing John Peter Amewu as elected member of Parliament for the Hohoe constituency has been granted.

The Ho High Court, chaired by Judge George Buadi, made the decision after an ex parte request was made by Tsastsu Tsikata on December 23, 2020.

The lawyer insisted that his clients had not had the opportunity to vote in the legislative elections in the constituency of Hohoe.

The plaintiffs, by this development, brought an action to ensure respect for their fundamental human rights, in particular their right to vote.

The Energy Minister garnered 26,952 votes representing 54.7% of the total votes at the close of parliamentary elections in the constituency, while his close candidate, Professor Margaret Kwaku of the NDC, garnered 21,821 votes.
