Suso never entered Liverpool but the Spain winger is now in the form of his life in Sevilla

Ex-Liverpool winger Suso is in the shape of a life helping new club Sevilla break a club record.

It was a spectacular strike by Suso from the edge of the box that gave Sevilla a victory over Valencia on Tuesday and the victory meant they had won six on the rebound away from home for the first time in their history.

Asked if his performance against Valencia was his best this season, the 27-year-old said: “ Maybe it would have been and we are on a good run as a team. ”

Suso arrived in Merseyside in 2010 but Rafa Benitez, who had fought for the signing of the Cadiz academy product, had already been replaced by Roy Hodgson upon his arrival.

When Brendan Rodgers replaced Hodgson Suso had some playing time, but only made 21 performances before leaving for Milan without ever showing Liverpool fans his quality.

Now he thrives under Julen Lopetegui and is an integral part of Luis Enrique’s Spanish projects.

Sevilla, meanwhile, made last season’s Europa League victory part of their Christmas message: never give up.

Lopetegui’s side saw Manchester United and Inter Milan on their way to victory in Cologne, as they looked doomed against both sides.

The Spanish club liken Rafa Nadal’s fighting spirit to his own ability to withstand an apparent imminent defeat in a short video to his supporters.

Lopetegui have their squad in sixth place in La Liga, but they face three of the teams above them in their next four games.
