New Patriotic Party (NPP) national organizer Sammi Awuku said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been unfair with some of its critics in the 2020 election.
He said he would be surprised if the election could be rigged for a political party in Ghana today.
“I would be surprised in Ghana today if the leaders of the Election Commission could sit in Ridge headquarters and pretend they can rig the election for a political party,” he said.
It comes after former President Mahama raised concerns over the polls that just ended, describing the results as fictitious.
Speaking to Emefa Apawu, the NPP organizer explained that the party had never been involved in the EC recruitment process.
“We weren’t part of that recruiting process and were never part of the recruiting process back in JA Kufuor’s time, so from Rawlings time to Kufuor’s era, Mills, Mahama, they’ve had more time to be in government, they “I had a longer opportunity to appoint election commissioners at the top,” he said.
He added that the NPP did not recruit but rather made new top appointments in consultation with the various authorities and bodies.
“We are not recruiting but we have made new top appointments in consultation with the various authorities and bodies unless someone suggests to me that Charlotte Osei has been put there to make Mr Mahama’s offers if that is considered as a fair stance, that is when you can go on with further extrapolation, ”he said.
Citing the 2012 election as a point of reference, he said the NPP felt they had won that election and then went ahead of the tribunal, believing the tribunal to be the best place to seek redress.
