Mensa Otabil sends a message to Christians

Pastor Mensa Otabil, the general overseer of the Central International Gospel Church (ICGC), called on Christians to remember the poor during the Christmas season.

He urged them to give to support the poor, especially children in orphanages and those on the streets, as part of efforts to bring them the love of Christ.

Pastor Otabil, in his Christmas message, wished Ghanaians and Christians around the world a Merry Christmas, saying, “Pastor and Mrs. Otabil and the whole family of Christ Temple wish you a Merry Christmas! May the love, joy and peace of Christ remain with you always ”.

Pastor Otabil said that Christmas should mark the incarnation or coming in the flesh of Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the world.

He said that the birth of Jesus Christ was the greatest birth that ever took place on earth and that nothing could compare to it; stating that all activities leading up to it were miraculous.

Quoting a hymn, he said, “The hopes and fears of the whole world meet in you, O little town of Bethlehem.”

Pastor Otabil said that on the day that Christ was born, God was holding back the hopes and fears of mankind and bringing mankind to its fulfillment through the birth of his son.

He said that the Lord God chose a young girl, Mary to be the mother, and that she carried the promise that was delivered in the book of Genesis; the mother’s seed will crush the serpent’s head.

“And finally there is the woman who bears the seed and she gives birth to the seed of the woman, the one who will crush the head of the serpent and by her death, the dominion of Satan has been destroyed.

“It was the beginning of the end of Satan’s power, it finally ended at Easter but it was the beginning; this child was born in a nursery in a secluded place.

He said that God brought his child into the world in Bethlehem and that there was no place for people to receive him and if the innkeepers only knew who was going to be born.

The General Overseer said that Christians could learn much from the birth of Christ and that many were born homeless during the Christmas seasons, others having no place to lay their heads and needed help.

He noted that the birth of Jesus Christ, while great in its message of salvation, was also very hard and difficult on the parent on the day of his birth.

He urged Christians to take inspiration from this and “visit someone, give someone, encourage someone, lighten someone’s burden, especially young children who are homeless in the streets and in orphanages ”.

“This Christmas may we show them the love of Christ; to your nephews / nieces to your children to the children in the neighborhood, don’t do something to save the world but do something for a child to let him know that there is a place in your heart for them ”, a- he insisted.
