Kenya’s health ministry said on Monday that 69 more people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the number of confirmed infections in the country to 95,992.

The additional cases come from a sample of 1,987 people tested in the past 24 hours.

According to the cases, 53 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners; 40 are men and 29 are women. The youngest is a three-year-old while the oldest is 86 years old.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a statement to newsrooms said 98 patients recovered from the disease – 77 from the home care program while 21 were discharged from various hospitals – bringing the total recoveries at 77,521.

Six people have succumbed to the coronavirus, however, bringing the cumulative death toll to 1,664.

According to CS Kagwe, 673 patients are admitted to various health facilities across the country and 3,386 in isolation and home care.

Among those hospitalized, 34 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 17 of them are on life support, 13 are on supplemental oxygen, while others are under observation.
