Emile Smith Rowe sums up perfectly what Arsenal was lacking for Mikel Arteta this season.
The Gunners won back-to-back Premier League games on Tuesday for the first time in this campaign since their opening two games.
It came after a 1-0 win over Brighton at Amex Stadium, following their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Boxing Day.
On both occasions, Arteta played his young talents Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
And it paid off with the Three Wonders who showed their talents and put their seasoned counterparts to shame.
For some reason Willian, Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos were dropped – as were Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for either game.
But Arsenal fans will be delighted to hear Smith Rowe after the game against Brighton after admitting it’s a dream come true to play for the Gunners.
“I really enjoyed it,” he said.
“It’s a dream for me to play for this club. I’m so happy and thankful that the manager trusted me and gave me the chance.
“I just have to keep training hard, and then when I have the opportunity, I have to take it.”
On the game itself he said: “Mikel told us that the game would open in the second half, so we just tried to keep the conviction, the confidence and you could see that we started to create more. ‘occasions.
“Laca got the goal that helped us.”
That spirit is exactly what Arteta needs in the Emirates right now and was a big part of his initial success when he joined this time around last year.
The Spaniard has lost his way a bit this campaign and perhaps gave too much confidence to his experienced players.
But they are the ones who are letting him down for the time being and amid reports that there are issues in the dressing room, Arteta still has allies with the younger cohort of the squad.
