A retail agent for MTN in the Savannah region, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, received a mini Toyota Rush from MTN Ghana.
The car is his award for being the company’s top Northern Business District Mobile Money (MoMo) agent.
The ultimate award was presented to him at the annual MoMo Agent & Merchant Awards in Tamale in recognition of his hard work and commitment.
Other winners in the categories of mobile agents, external mobile agents, merchants and regional account developers received digital TVs, mobile phones and tablets as prizes.
The best regional account developer and the second best MoMo agent each received a motorcycle as a special award of the year.
MTN Ghana’s Senior General Trade Manager for North, Mr. Simon Amoh, said agents, traders and distributors have been the lifeline for the growth of MoMo services and MTN’s business.
He said the selection of winners was based on the volume and value of transactions and compliance with established rules and regulations.
He urged the award winners and staff to continue their good work to ensure the best service delivery to customers, adding that the company will continue to motivate its business partners for the growth of the company.
Mr Amoh warned partners and customers not to disclose their MoMo PIN, to allow others to transact on their behalf, and to avoid discussing wallet details with strangers as the fraudsters continue to revise their strategies as the company intensifies training and improves internal security processes.
Tamale Metropolitan Police Command Chief Superintendent Iddrisu Tanko pleaded with MTN to take cybersecurity and the physical safety of customers seriously by installing CCTV cameras to monitor events.
He advised MoMo officers to call the police emergency number to protect themselves when they detect danger and to ensure that they are operating in a well-marked area with clear roads, where police could easily locate them in case of danger.
