Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko: Letter to Mahama on the result of the 2020 elections

Dear John Mahama,

Akufo-Addo and the NPP did not file an election petition in 2012 to “remove all doubt …”

Indeed, today, there are still several Ghanaians who still have doubts about the credibility of the 2012 presidential election and who nevertheless accepted the decision of the Supreme Court in this electoral petition.

Their doubts were not removed by the court! Indeed, in such cases, you rather go to court to sow doubts and hope to profit from it.

The NPP then went to court because they believed they had enough evidence, which they exposed, to show that you, John Mahama, did not win in 2012 and Akufo-Addo won.

The end result was not. They didn’t agree with it but accepted it. No leader worthy of the name and no party worthy of the name should stand up to put their supporters on the streets to burn tires and wreak all kinds of havoc, claiming that you have won and that you, the defeated candidate, declare that the results were “fictitious” only to present you in court to say that your mission is to eliminate all doubts. Unbelievable!

It is reckless, irresponsible, unpatriotic and indeed selfish for any statesman (a former president for that matter) to waste the time of an entire nation and its Supreme Court just for the sake of hoping to “lift any doubt ”.

What doubt? What doubt? You have no doubt that you lost this election.

You know! If you doubt you lost, do it at home! Pour yourself a drink and drown your sorrows, for all that matters to us!

But don’t waste our time and desperately feed the hopes of your loyal supporters just because you have doubts in your mind.

It is so overwhelming! We have too much waste in this beautiful country of ours.
