Election petition: NDC presents evidence to British and American envoys

On Wednesday, December 30, the NDC presented its evidence contesting the outcome of the recently concluded election to the British High Commissioner and the US Ambassador to Ghana.

In a Facebook post from Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the minority spokesperson for the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee presented the diplomatic community with some of the pink sheets on which the National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes their results have been tampered with. to favor President Akufo-Addo.

Mr Ablakwa’s message said: “The caucus under the distinguished leadership of Chief Haruna Iddrisu and Second Vice President Alban SK Bagbin presented evidence and the basis for the NDC’s rejection of the multiple results declared by the EC for the presidential race and questionable parliamentary statements in particular. at Techiman South and Sefwi Wiawso.

“We also highlighted the serious human rights violations that led to the murder of 7 Ghanaians and left many injured who changed their lives,” he added.

The pink leaves were inspected by diplomats and their officials in the presence of Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban SK Bagbin.

The meeting with the diplomatic community comes after the party’s presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday (December 30) asked the Supreme Court to order a second round of the December 7 elections.

According to him, the votes obtained by the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), President Nana Akufo-Addo, and himself in the election on December 7, as declared by the chairman of the electoral commission, Jean Mensah, were not enough to be declared the winner.

Furthermore, the Northern Tongu MP reiterated the NDC’s position to persist with all legal means to ensure a reversal of the general election results declared by the Commission.

“We will continue our series of legitimate commitments in the spirit of democratic accountability, resisting the subversion of the will of the people and preserving the pillars of the Fourth Republic born from our political tradition.

“It is important to stress that the commitments will continue without prejudice to the request filed with the country’s supreme court,” he said.
