Chief Pastor and Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr. Mensa Otabil, urged his congregation to resume in-person church services.
Addressing the faithful during the Cross Over service to inaugurate the New Year, Pastor Otabil, recognizing the impact of the coronavirus on religious activity, nevertheless instructed the faithful to “come out of the ark” and attend the religious service.

The Central Church International of the Gospel (ICGC) is among many other churches that have organized virtual services on television, radio and online in order to control the spread of the deadly virus. The church canceled one of its largest annual conferences – Greater Works in 2020. It was part of the church’s strict action against the spread of the coronavirus.

The main task of the Ghana Infectious Disease Center will be to locate and track whether the new contagious variant of Covid-19 is found in the country.
This new variant of the deadly virus, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is more contagious than the coronavirus that the world is fighting.
Already, South Africa was the first African country to register a case of this new strain of the virus. Nigeria is the latest to register its first case.
Speaking to CitiFM on Ghana’s preparedness, Ghana Health Service Director of Public Health Dr Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe revealed that aggressive testing is currently underway to determine whether Ghana has a case.
He believes any case will be easily monitored and tracked, especially when Ghana has one of the best testing and tracing regimes in Africa.
Meanwhile, Ghana is expected to roll out a mass vaccination program against Covid-19 in June 2021. Medical experts revealed on Joy News’s Newsfile program that the Ministry of Health is currently in the process of buying millions of dollars. doses.

Even though Ghana has outlined strategic interventions to stem the spread of the coronavirus, law enforcement has been very weak across the country. The Ghana Medical Association condemned what it described as “the indiscipline of Ghanaians to adhere to security protocols against Covid”.
Many Ghanaians go about their business without covering their faces. The sale and purchase of hand sanitizers also fell as if the virus had been completely defeated in the sub-region.

Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have been on the rise since October, with the daily number of cases reaching dozens. Disease experts at the University of Ghana predict that more than one million Ghanaians are carriers of the virus – although recent cases exceed 45,000.
Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo assured that Ghana was ready to roll out a mass vaccination program against Covid-19. Speaking during his recent speech on Covid-19, the President revealed that procurement processes are well advanced to secure millions of doses of vaccines in 2021.
This assurance comes as Nigeria, neighboring Ghana, has recorded a new case of the Covid-19 variant that scientists around the world fear is more contagious than the Covid-19 we know.
