Concerned Citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora (CCGTD) is a non-partisan group of dedicated executives who are located outside the enclaves of Ghana. The ideologies of the group are clearly formed from humanitarianism and nationalism. We constructively censor and praise without parochialism.

Ghana must build Ghana. No one can build us. And it depends on each Ghanaian to their maximum to achieve this. The sense of belonging gives us the inseparable acquiescence that once you are Ghanaian, still Ghanaian.

In Ghana, the presidential election is held every four years to elect the president who is the head of state and commander-in-chief of the Ghanaian armed forces through the majority system (two-round system) and requires the winner to obtain more than 50% of valid votes cast.

In view of the above, the Election Commission of Ghana is, at most, the government institution which has been granted exceptional independence under Article 46 of the 1992 constitution which states that, “in the exercise of In its functions, the Election Commission will not be subject to the control or direction of any authority “except in the cases provided for in the constitution or in any other law not incompatible with the commission”, to conduct free, fair and honest elections.

In light of this, we in the “Concerned Citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora, CCGTD” fellowship would like to congratulate and commend the Election Commission headed by Jean Mensah for the masterful and brilliant act that was demonstrated in the conduct of the 2020 election amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 epidemic has undoubtedly derailed the stability of many countries around the world and caused many unforeseen worrying circumstances which were apparently difficult to deal with as all mass activity is of concern.

However, the Election Commission stood out and proved beyond a reasonable doubt that indeed the dogma of ingenuity is deeply rooted in their case.

First, the compilation of the new electoral register from 2020 to the exposure of successfully registered voters was and still unimaginable. The adaptation of digital methods in its procedures provided a very practical atmosphere to the Ghanaian citizen. It was entirely possible for anyone to verify and assess their voter registration information without even visiting their respective registration centers. The Election Commission deserves applause for such a milestone in the country’s record books.

The timely and accurate dissemination of information and updates is now the hallmark of the electoral commission in its effectiveness. Ghanaians are contemporary witnesses to an electorate endowed with an unparalleled level of transparency and are grateful to them.

The mainstay of the Election Commission is the conduct of general elections to ensure a peaceful and widely accepted outcome of the election results.

Historically, truth be told, it is clear that the 2020 general election is the best since the creation of the 4th Republic. The overcrowding that perpetually triggered unpleasant situations in the various polling stations was irrelevant during the voting process. This significantly ensured a smooth and rapid vote count, coupled with the clarity of the results in coalition centers.

Nonetheless, the people of Ghana were for the first time aware of the certified evidence-based results which were endorsed by all parties at constituency, regional and national levels.

The citizens were not open to any information relating to the election.

Ahead of the general elections, the chairman of the Election Commission categorically proclaimed his intention to declare the election results in record time.

To justify its resolution, the EC deftly declared and broke the election results in an unprecedented way.

This gives ratification to our EC exaltation over this year’s elections.

Peace is the highest aspiration of the Ghanaian citizen and we cannot give way to the desolation of our hard-fought freedom.

Considering this, for losing opponents, it is better to try and fail than to fail without trying. You have done wonderfully well. Better luck next time.

We seize to warn any party that is not satisfied with the election results to seek redress through the appropriate channel to ensure the survival of the stability of the country.

In conclusion, the “concerned citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora, CCGTD” congratulate the elected president, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and urge him to continue his immense commitment to demanding Ghanaians, especially the diaspora and to celebrate the Jean Mensah led the Election Commission for a wonderful job done.

Ayekoo Ghana Election Commission.

Long live Ghana!
