The trailer for Saif Ali Khan’s Amazon Prime Video web series, Tandav, has been released. Political drama from director Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav also stars Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Dimple Kapadia, Kritika Kamra, Gauahar Khan, Sarah Jane Dias, Sunil Grover, Dino Morea, Anuup Sonii, Kumud Mishra and Sandhya Mridul in key parts.
The well-cut trailer shows how people from diverse backgrounds interact in their struggle to sit in the highest chair. Samar Pratap Singh of Saif, who belongs to a political family, hopes to become prime minister. Grover plays his cunning and omniscient helper. Ayyub and Kamra are student leaders. Meanwhile, the characters of Kapadia and Mishra want to ascend the “throne” by any means possible.
The trailer shows us how the lives of these people are interconnected while also building the drama in more or less predictable ways. The actors seem well cast. The screenplay was written by article 15 author Gaurav Solanki, so I have high hopes. In the end, it will all come down to the leadership of Ali Abbas Zafar. Known for making commercial films, it will be interesting to see how he handled the webseries.
Speaking about his character in Tandav, Saif Ali Khan said in a statement, “The entertainment industry in India is going through a renaissance and stories like Tandav are at the forefront of this change. As an actor, for me good dramatic writing and compelling creation with gray characters is always exciting. As I read about the intricacies of my character Samar and delved deeper into the world of Tandav, I knew I had to play this character.
Tandav will premiere January 15 on Amazon Prime Video.
