President-elect of the United States of America, Joseph Biden says he hopes for a more engaging dialogue in the future with President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, there are common issues facing the two countries and their populations that make it relevant to strengthen the existing relationship.
He revealed this in a letter responding to President Akufo-Addo’s congratulatory message on his victory in the US election.
“We look forward to working with you and your government to resolve the common issues facing our countries and our people, I look forward to future dialogue,” the letter read.
Joe Biden apologized for his delay in responding and his inability to speak personally to Akufo-Addo on the phone, personally explaining that he had taken office at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic was taking a heavy toll on him and its task ahead.
“Vice President-elect Harris and I will take office at a time of great global challenges ranging from coronavirus to climate change that transcend borders and demand an international society,” he added.
Mr Biden is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20, two weeks after President Akufo-Addo’s swearing-in ceremony on January 7.
