My attention was drawn to an article which has the caption, “YOU CANNOT LEAD NPP IF YOU ARE MUSLIM OR NORDINARY” by a friend who knows my love and passion for nuclear power.
I was so outraged when I saw what was allegedly said by a former party leader in the riding of Cape Coast. My first comment to my friend was: “who is this stupid person who wants to destroy our party.”
When I got home, I decided to read said article and possibly react to the story to send a very strong message that such behavior is not tolerated by the party. However, after reading about half of what was written, I stopped to wonder if I was reading a bad article, because I didn’t see anything wrong with what I had read. I decided to continue until the end to see where this irresponsible statement was made in the editorial staff.
To my surprise, I saw nothing said or implied about the caption of the article I had seen. Then I became outraged again, but this time to those behind the article with the twisted caption. I immediately called my friend and asked him if he had read the article.
Apparently he hadn’t read the article either. So I asked him to read the article and get back to me. After about twenty minutes my friend called me and was laughing uncontrollably. When I asked him why he was laughing, he said the author of the article wasn’t stupid like you said, so you better go and apologize. We laughed, but honestly I felt so bad and sad. How could people be so mischievous and mean
The article I read was one of the best political articles I have read in my entire life. The author was objective, sincere and daring. The fact that he had the audacity to use his real name and his photo suggests to me that he is a sincere person. Many people will use pseudo names under such articles which can be misinterpreted. Now let’s move on to the issues he raised! I think he deserves to be applauded for daring to raise such important issues for the party to think about. Every party needs bold people like this to help turn things around when the need arises.
From what I read; I didn’t see any malice on his part. He was just frank with the issues and I think he did a lot of important analysis that will help the party a lot. He touched on many important questions that had never crossed my mind before. On my card, he would score 9/10 on two of the three issues he addressed and 10/10 on the winning formula.
As a mathematician, I don’t see this as a formula. Maybe I’m a little biased on this one because I always thought it was the best decision Kufuor and Nana Addo ever made. I agree with him that there is great wisdom in this combination. This is where we have an advantage over the NDC because the NDC has only appointed one Muslim as vice president since 1992 and no Muslim has become vice president of the NDC.
In the article, I could see the author’s passion for victory 2024. For me, this is one of the takeaways from the article. We cannot afford not to win in 2024. What the party needs is victory and only a good candidate and a united party can bring that victory.
I urge Dr Bawumia to consider talking to his supporters to calm down. I was so disturbed when they took to social media immediately after the election to project him as Nana Addo’s successor. Veep, please speak to your supporters not to post your photo and others as a presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate. I saw the photo of the Honorable Alan Kyerematen used in one of these images and now his name is associated with an article that does not appear to favor their preferred candidate. It’s not fair to Alan Kyerematen.
Again, talk to those behind the legend of the crooked article as well. I was forced to use foul words against someone who had written something so intelligently and objectively. The caption “You cannot run the nuclear power plant if you are a Muslim or a Northerner” is seriously misleading and dishonest. There is no place in the article where it is mentioned that a person cannot run the nuclear power plant if they are Muslim or northerner.
If Dr. Bawumia’s supporters think E, G, Buckman’s claims and analysis aren’t good enough, they can also write an article to counter his own. Also, if those behind this misleading caption think they are doing this to destroy the reputation of the original article’s author or any individual, they should stop and think again, as this is the party they destroy.
The NPP tradition is made up of free and independent thinkers and so when people write or say something to express their opinion on certain issues, we shouldn’t start attacking them just because we don’t agree with them. Rather, we should weigh what they write or say and see if they are wearing something that we can work with.
I can say that EG Buckman’s article, “WHY THE NPP WOULD LIKE TO COMMIT POLITICAL SUICIDE IN 2024” is full of many issues and truths that must be considered by the party. Glad I read it and hope many more people read it to objectively judge for themselves whether the article is malicious.
