The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced that the government has given its approval for the stadiums to be open to supporters in the 2020/2021 season of the Ghana Premier League.
Ahead of the start of the new season, the government plans to fill stadiums to 25% capacity with fans to ensure social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.
Unfortunately, a spike in the coronavirus case in the country later forced the government to ban fans altogether from going to stadiums to watch their teams play.
Months after several complaints from the football community, the government decided to resort to the original arrangement to allow a limited number of supporters to visit the stadiums.
“Ghana has made significant progress in controlling the disease in recent times. The government has therefore relaxed the restriction on playing behind closed doors, places in all stadiums will therefore be limited to twenty-five (25%) capacity as previously announced by the president, ”said part of a statement from the Ministry of Sports. Tuesday.
Meanwhile, all existing safety and hygiene protocols against the spread of coronavirus disease must be strictly observed by fans.
