Rapper Dr Dre was hospitalized after suffering from a brain aneurysm. The music mogul, real name Andre Young, is being treated in the intensive care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Dre is reportedly clear-headed and in stable condition, but doctors are trying to determine the cause of the bleeding.

On Tuesday evening, Dr Dre and his team posted a statement on Instagram.

“Thank you to my family, friends and fans for their interest and good wishes,” the statement read. “I am doing very well and receiving excellent care from my medical team. I will be leaving the hospital soon and going home. Well done to all of Cedars’ great healthcare professionals.

Rapper LL Cool J also shared information about Dre’s state of health Tuesday night, writing on Twitter that “Dre is recovering well.”

Aneurysms occur when an arterial wall becomes weak, causing the wall of the blood vessel to swell and sometimes bleeding in the surrounding area. The causes are not always clear, but common causes include high blood pressure and atherosclerosis, the buildup of fat and cholesterol on the walls of the arteries.

In addition to being a record producer and sound engineer, Dre, 55, is also a co-founder of headphone maker Beats. Dre founded the company in 2006 with Jimmy Iovine. Apple acquired the company in 2014 for $ 3 billion.
