The man once dubbed the ‘next Kaka’ is set to end his extended stay at Stamford Bridge after being recalled soon after his stay in Portugal.
Lucas Piazon saw his loan spell with Rio Ave end early before a permanent move away from Chelsea after nine years at the club.
Three unnamed clubs are reportedly in negotiations with Chelsea, who have made Piazon available for a permanent transfer with his contract expiring soon.
The 26-year-old only has six months left on his current contract, but an option for an additional year ensures the Blues can take advantage of the Brazilian striker.
The deal is a blow to the Primeira Liga club after he became a regular during his 18-month loan spell at Estadio dos Arcos.
However, Piazon was looking to get away from the loan system after making seven temporary moves during his nine years at Chelsea.
It had also become increasingly clear that he would not rely on his three appearances for Chelsea’s first team after arriving as one of Brazil’s most exciting talents in a £ 5million transfer. ($ 7 million) from Sao Paulo in 2012.
Chelsea are also keen to reduce their loan pool ahead of next season with the arrival of new FIFA regulations limiting clubs to eight such deals for players over 22.
Meanwhile, Baba Rahman and Danny Drinkwater are currently playing and training with the Chelsea Under-23s ahead of possible loan deals in January.
Drinkwater has been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig club Kasimpasa. However, any impending move was denied Goal with the signing of £ 35million ($ 47million) from Leicester still looking to get their Blues career back on track.
A move for Rahman is more likely with two foreign clubs in advanced talks on six-month loan deals. It will likely be a showcase of his physical form and talent ahead of a summer transfer from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also willing to loan Dujon Sterling and Charlie Brown on loan, but Charly Musonda is still proving his form by barely returning to training.
Ike Ugbo, currently on loan at Club Brugge, was the subject of a rejected £ 3million ($ 4million) bid from Russian club Rostov, with a £ 5million prize placed on the 22-year-old fit striker.
The rest of Chelsea’s youngsters are held on ahead of the FA Cup clash with Morecambe, who will likely see Frank Lampard deliver a mass of debut for academy stars.
Among those present in the first-team bubble ahead of Sunday’s game are Tino Anjorin, Lewis Bate, Henry Lawrence and Tino Livramento.
