Chelsea are preparing for the January transfer window and are set to offload unwanted players in a bid to raise funds.
The Blues have triggered happy in the summer 2020 window to improve the squad, with Frank Lampard having shelled out £ 250million on new signings.
Declan Rice is their only remaining target, but they’ll have to wait before they make a move for him.
The West Ham captain is valued at £ 73million and they are unwilling to lower that asking price.
Lampard is currently under significant pressure, but will likely have time
Danny Drinkwater finds movement
Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater has reportedly agreed to leave Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder has not started a Premier League game for the Blues since March 2018, having fallen out of favor in west London.
He made headlines for all the wrong reasons after slapping a 16-year-old Tottenham player in the head in an Under-23 game earlier this season, with his first-team football chances diminishing to say the least.
His agent has been said to be trying to agree to a move to Germany, but it has now been reported that he is ready for a loan transfer to Turkey.
Drinkwater is about to be taken out to put the pen on paper with the Turkish side Kasimpasa.
Chelsea Lucas Piazon Outbreak Shot
Brazilian striker Lucas Piazon has become the forgotten man at Chelsea after numerous loans.
He is currently on loan to the Portuguese side of Rio Ave, but that deal is about to be scrapped.
The 26-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the season, but Chelsea have the option of extending it for another year.
They are willing to trigger that clause, but only sell it on a permanent deal, claims Caught Offside.
Chelsea are lucky enough to spend a lot
Chelsea may have already spent £ 250million on new signings – with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech all arriving in the past 12 months – they have the chance to shell out even more money in January.
The Blues reported a £ 32million profit on New Years Eve, having sold Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata in recent years, combined with their transfer ban.
But according to Football.London, a UEFA loophole will allow the club to continue spending money this winter if they wanted to.
Position of fresh Declan rice
Chelsea are unlikely to move for Rice in January and may choose to drop their pursuit entirely if Lampard is sacked.
This is the opinion of The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who reports that Chelsea’s desire to sign the England international comes mainly from Lampard.
He also claimed in a YouTube Q&A that some at Chelsea had doubts about the midfielder’s abilities and whether they should watch him.
The value of any potential transfer has also reportedly raised doubts at Stamford Bridge.
