Juaboso MP Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said he never consented to a colleague in parliament, Ursula Owusu, sitting on his lap.
This incident took place amid the confusion in the parliamentary chamber in the wee hours of Thursday during the dissolution of the 7th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.
Chaos reigned in the House after MPs from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took the seats intended for their majority colleagues.
So when the deputies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) entered, they joined the minority section.
Explaining the scenario to Winston Amoah and Evans Mensah of JoyNews, Mr Akandoh said Ablekuma West MP Ursula Owusu refused to sit with her party and moved to the other side.
“We sat on the majority side, on the right side of the speaker’s place. So when they came in, they all joined the minority, the left side, and sat down. Ursula refused to go that way, ”he said.
He further explained that when Ms. Owusu got up from the seat to go to the bathroom, he went to take that seat.
“… And when she came back, she sat on my lap.” She just sat on my lap. I didn’t want to touch her.
He said his wife had not commented on the incident, stressing that he was not responsible for the incident.
“She sat on my lap. I did not sit on his lap. My wife should be complaining, not her husband.
He added that he did not want to touch her to avoid “meeting her with a little force”.
