Eysuvis is now available for the short-term treatment of dry eye, according to a press release from Kala Pharmaceuticals.
Eysuvis uses Kala’s proprietary Mucus Penetrating Particulate Drug Delivery Technology Ampplify for enhanced penetration of loteprednol etabonate into target ocular surface tissue to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. The treatment also offers a favorable tolerance and safety profile and has the potential to complement existing therapies, according to the release.
“We are delighted to announce our second product launch in 2 years, with Eysuvis now available in the United States as the first approved prescription treatment specifically indicated for the short-term treatment of dry eye.” Mark Iwicki, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kala, said in the statement.
The FDA approved Eysuvis in October 2020.
