Jan. 8 (UPI) – Thor: love and thunder Star Tessa Thompson will be arriving on the film set this month.
The 37-year-old actress said in Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she is going to Australia to shoot the Marvel movie next week.
Thompson is leaving for Australia on Monday and will be quarantined for two weeks at a government-run facility upon arrival in the country. She will then join Natalie Portman and other actors and crew on the set.
Sure Jimmy Kimmel Live!Thompson said it was surreal to travel to a country with relatively low COVID-19 cases as numbers in Los Angeles County rise.
“I mean, people go to the movies and to dinner,” the star said of Australians. “It’s like an alternate universe. I kind of forgot what all of these things are like. But yes, things are under control.”
Thompson said she would not receive any special treatment at the end of her quarantine period.
“You are escorted by the police to a quarantine center and stay there for 14 days while you are under surveillance. Once you are out, it’s kind of normal,” the actress said.
“You don’t get any treatment, like, just because you’re in movies,” she added. “I think the only thing I get, potentially because it’s Marvel, is some training gear, just because I have to be in a superhero costume.”
Thompson said she felt a bit of “survivor’s remorse” leaving Los Angeles, but shared what she was looking forward to doing in Australia.
“In Australia, they have these things called jaffles – they’re like sandwiches without a crust,” the star said. “They feel like a Hot Pocket like a sandwich. I want to have one because I remember they were delicious.”
“In keeping with this idea of having some sort of survivor remorse, I think I should accept people’s demands, like what I might do for them as their proxy in Australia,” she added. “So I can just get in on the people from FaceTime.”
Portman, who plays Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said on Watch what is happening live in October that she was training hard to portray the character as Mighty Thor for the first time. She described Chris Hemsworth’s muscles as “from another world” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in December.
Thor: love and thunder is directed by Taika Waititi and co-stars Portman, Hemsworth, Jaimie Alexander and Christian Bale. The film hits theaters in May 2022.
