Some residents of Kumasi urged President Akufo-Addo to prioritize the development of the Ashanti region during his second term.
According to them, the attention of President Akufo-Addo during his first term was absorbed by the politics of free SHS.
While recognizing his importance, they underlined their desire for him to look to the other needs of the inhabitants of the Region.
The improvement of the road network and the health system of the region is among the many demands they have asked the president.
They feel that meeting those needs is, in a sense, recognition of Nana Addo for helping her renew her mandate.
“If we Ashantis gave him another term, he should look to us a bit, because we really supported him and helped him reach the presidential niche,” one said.
Another added: “As he mentioned that 2021 will be the second part of the Year of Roads and Other Infrastructure, we expect that all these measures will be updated. We want him to do the Oforikrom and Suame exchanges for us ”.
“We also expect the government to be able to improve our health care because we really need it.”
President Akufo-Addo was sworn in to begin his second term on Thursday, January 7.
Although his victory is contested by National Democratic leader John Mahama, the president, in his inaugural address, expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for giving him a second term and asked for the help of Ghanaians in making the dreams of the ancestors come true. of the nation.
He described his re-election as “a demonstration of the trust and confidence” of the Ghanaian electorate “not only as a thank you for the achievements recorded throughout my first four years, but more significantly for the tremendous work that must be accomplished over the next four years, in our drive to firmly lead our nation on the path of progress, prosperity and development, after the devastation caused by Covid-19. “
