Thiruvananthapuram, January 9 (IANS): Kerala saw 5,528 people testing positive for Covid on Saturday, the state government said.
5,424 people tested negative on Saturday and the test positive rate is 9.03%. 64,318 people are being treated at various state hospitals as of Saturday, a statement from the office of state health minister KK Shailaja said.
Ernakulam with 893 cases has the maximum number of positive cases and Kasargod with 93 cases has the fewest cases, the statement said.
22 deaths were reported on Saturday from Covid, bringing the total death toll in the state to 3,279.
Of those who tested positive, 60 came from out of state and 4,988 people tested positive by contact. The contact source of 435 patients is still unclear, the statement said.
48 health workers also tested positive on Saturday while 2,02171 people are under observation in various parts of the state, and of those 1,91,116 people are at home / in institutional quarantine with 11,055 Covid positive patients admitted to hospitals.
The total number of hotspots in the state is now 438.
