BERLIN – BMW Group vehicle sales fell 8.4% in 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic took its toll and many outlets around the world were closed for months.
BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce car sales were 2.32 million last year, BMW said in a statement Tuesday.
In Europe, sales fell 16%, while in the United States, they fell 18%. In China, where the pandemic started and where it was brought under control more quickly than elsewhere, sales rose 7.4%.
Customer demand picked up in the fourth quarter, increasing 3.2%, BMW said.
“We managed to end the year with a strong fourth quarter and, once again, we lead the premium segment in the world,” said Pieter Nota, member of the board of directors of BMW in the communicated.
BMW brand sales fell 7.2% in 2020, Mini vehicle sales fell 16%, and Rolls-Royce volume fell 26%.
