Jose Mourinho delivered a typically cut-off comeback in response to Mesut Ozil’s jibe that he would rather retire than play for Tottenham.
The Arsenal midfielder, who has been exiled by the Gunners but maintains the club’s loyalty in north London, but the Spurs boss has put him in his place.
When briefed on Ozil’s remarks at a press conference, Mourinho retaliated by saying: ‘Who told him Tottenham were interested in signing him? ”

Ozil has been sidelined in the red half of north London for months and was not included by Mikel Arteta in his squad’s Premier League or Europa League squads.
The 32-year-old is on contract until June and earns £ 350,000 a week in the Emirates as the club are desperate to take him off the books.
When asked in a question-and-answer session on Twitter if he’d rather retire or play for Spurs, he replied: “ Easy question. Withdraw! ‘
Given that Ozil hasn’t been on the pitch for a year now, Mourinho had an easy answer at his disposal.
Interestingly, Mourinho worked with Ozil at Real Madrid while they were both on the Spanish side between 2010-13, but there is clearly no love lost between them.

Ozil is free to negotiate with other clubs this month and local media have reported that he has had talks with Turkish club Fenerbahce and USA team DC United.

Mourinho, meanwhile, will turn his attention to Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Fulham.
