The countdown to this Sunday’s clash between Liverpool and Manchester United is well underway.
Jurgen Klopp knows the game could have huge consequences in the Premier League title race, as the two giants meet again the following weekend in the FA Cup fourth round.
The Reds also face Burnley, Tottenham and West Ham in a January filled with luminaries.
And while Liverpool have yet to enter the market in the January transfer window, speculation surrounding Anfield’s potential earnings is just as frantic.
Kylian Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Merseyside, while Sergio Ramos has recently been touted to join the Reds, who lack a center-back.
There are updates on both players and more in Wednesday’s transfer round-up to Liverpool.
No bidding for Ramos
Liverpool have not made a bid for Real Madrid and Spain legend Sergio Ramos, according to reports.
Ramos’ contract at the Santiago Bernabeu will expire at the end of the season, giving rise to much speculation about his future.
A move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain has been touted, while Premier League clubs such as Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with the 34-year-old.
But ABC, via Sport Witness, claims that Ramos “denies having received proposals from PSG and Ramos”, while his brother and agent, René, has not yet “put it on the international market”.
The Real Madrid captain has made 17 appearances this season, scoring three goals, while Los Blancos are second in La Liga.
Boost Mbappe
Mauricio Pochettino could open the door for Kylian Mbappe leaving Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid, the Daily Express reports.
New PSG boss Pochettino is keen to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero this summer, while a move for Barcelona legend Lionel Messi is also being considered.
The former Spurs manager is expected to receive a significant sum to spend on transfers, with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba also being watched.
But to fund the moves for all of his goals, Pochettino will need to allow the players to leave, with Mbappe being the most likely candidate to leave the Parc des Princes.
Liverpool have long been linked with the prolific young Frenchman, who has 18 months left of his contract with PSG, but Real Madrid are sure to fight fiercely for the player’s signing.
Loic bound
Lens star Loic Baden is the latest center-back who could move to Anfield, according to reports in France.
The 20-year-old joined the Ligue 1 club from second tier Le Havre last summer and has been a mainstay of the defense this season, making 16 appearances.
Baden are committed to the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in Lens until 2023, but Le10sport reports that Liverpool are “working behind the scenes” to present an offer for the Frenchman – who is also a target for AC Milan.
The report adds that the Reds are “watching his development closely” as they continue to consider strengthening their center-back options amid their ongoing injury crisis.
