The cash-strapped Liberian government introduced the use of personalized license plates for vehicles.
Called “vanity” or “luxury” plates, they will cost between $ 1,000 (£ 731) and $ 1,500 per year.
The annual fee for regular plates is typically around $ 100, depending on the vehicle.
Those willing to fork the cash for a more personal touch would be able to choose the characters and numbers that appear on their plates, an official said.
With little direct investment in Liberia over the past three years, the government of former football star President George Weah must find creative ways to generate much-needed income.
