Arsenal are “convinced” that Houssem Aouar could be the answer to their creativity problems.
The Gunners are looking for a creative midfielder this month and Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia appears to be one of the main targets.
The amount of fees claimed for Buendia – £ 40million – could cause problems for the Gunners, however, and this is nothing new with Arsenal who are also frustrated with other targets that are simply costing too much.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who says Arsenal were “ convinced ” that summer target Aouar was and is the right person to solve their problems.

But succeeding in a movement for the Lyon star is a whole different matter.
“They are always looking for that kind of player, they were also trying for Szoboszlai who later joined Leipzig, but they were really trying for Dominik Szoboszlai,” Romano said on the Feather on Football podcast.
“And also Aouar has always been Arsenal’s first target. They love him and they are convinced he would be perfect in their midfield.
“The problem is that Lyon are asking for 60 million euros (53.3 million pounds), they have an incredible season, they want to be back in the Champions League, so for the moment with the president of Lyon, it’s really difficult to negotiate in January. for this kind of player.
Arsenal were closely linked with Aouar throughout the summer transfer window but ended up replacing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
As Romano said, the chances of signing Aouar this month are slim and not just because of the fees, but because Lyon are top of Ligue 1 and are on the way to winning their first title since 2008.
Aouar has been key to the club’s success this season, making 15 appearances, scoring three and helping as many, and he likely won’t be allowed to leave in that window.
