2FM has announced the 10 Irish artists it will promote and defend widely throughout the year as part of its Rising initiative.
The program will see RTÉ broadcast exclusive new music and interviews with selected artists which include: For those I love; Shiv; The Clockworks; Shane Codd; Lea Heart; Monjola; Robert Grace; Bobbi Arlo; Gemma Dunleavy; and Plantain Papi.
Each artist will also receive a € 1,000 grant from the Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO).
In previous years, names on the rising list included Fontaines DC Wyvern Lingo, Lyra, and Dermot Kennedy.
The announcement, which was made on The Tracy Clifford Show, kicked off Rising Week which runs January 18-24.
2FM Music Director Adam Fogarty said the artists chosen this year are “a fantastic example of the strength and diversity of Irish music at the moment. At a time when musicians and artists need all the support they can get, we hope that 2FM Rising can be of benefit to these artists on their respective journeys to greater things ”.
IMRO Director General Victor Finn said that it is currently “an extremely difficult time for the music and the arts community at large and that the 2FM Rising initiative will provide an invaluable promotional and support platform for all. the participating acts throughout 2021 ”.
