Juaboso MP Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has joined a growing list of notable figures who have decided not to allow their neighborhoods to return to school despite schools reopening after nearly 10 months of closure.

Speaking to GhanaWeb in parliament, the MP’s health committee member said his decision was based on current developments and information he was aware of.

According to him, while he cannot necessarily advise parents against sending their children to school, it would be hypocritical of him to allow his children to go to school at this time.

“As a father, I will not allow my children to go to school. It is a personal decision that I made. I’m not saying that everyone should listen to me and take the same position. But I’m frank with you. I’m not hypocrite that I’ll say it’s not a good time so I’ll let my kids go or say it’s a good time so I… .. no, as far as I’m concerned and where I’m sitting , I serve on the Health Committee and with the information, I am aware, I think that even if I allowed my children to go to school, it will not be this first week, ”he said. he declares.

In the assertion of the deputies, the only condition which will bring him to allow his children to go to school will be when there is a clear indication of the containment of the resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic. in the country.

In recent weeks, the number of COVID-19 in Ghana has increased from around a few hundred to over two thousand.

Despite this and the resulting concerns, the government of Ghana has continued with its planned reopening of schools.
