England head coach Eddie Jones is in self-isolation after one of his staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Forwards coach Matt Proudfoot returned a positive test ahead of Six Nations training camp in England, which begins next Wednesday.

Jones and attack trainer Simon Amor have been identified as close contacts and are to self-isolate for 10 days as per government guidelines.

If the duo return negative tests after their period of isolation, they can join the England camp next Thursday.

The Rugby Football Union claim that Proudfoot is asymptomatic.

Attack trainer Simon Amor will also self-isolate for 10 days, following government guidelines.

England will be without Ryles for the Six Nations

England need to stage their Six Nations title defense without respected assistant coach Jason Ryles.

In a significant setback for Jones, Ryles and his family decided not to move from Australia to London this month due to the lockdown in place for the coronavirus crisis.

New arrivals to the UK must now be quarantined for 10 days.

At this point, it’s unclear if Ryles will be replaced for the Six Nations, but it is hoped that he will be available for the summer tour of North America.
